Admission Procedure

Admission Procedure shall include the following steps:

1. Electronic Application:

PREPARING TO APPLY

It is recommended that you read carefully Application Documents and Application Terms of the programs you will apply, and have all the documents you need for the application process ready before you login to the Electronic Application System.

APPLICATION

STEP 0: DEFINING A NEW USER

  • Visit Electronic Application System by clicking on “Click to Apply” at http://adaylar.boun.edu.tr/en-EN/Page/Admissions/II_Education/All.
  • Click “New Applicant” to login to the system.
  • On the page that opens, enter your email address and choose a password, then fill out the application form.
  • Click “Create User.”
  • At this point, the system will send a confirmation message to your email address, and a verification code.
  • Return to the application page.  
  • Once again, enter your email address and password, and click “Login.”
  • Code verification page opens.  
  • Enter the verification code sent to your email in the relevant box.
  • Once the verification code is approved, you will gain access to the main menu.

STEP 1: APPLICANT INFORMATION FORM

In this section, you will be asked to enter the general information required for applying to all graduate programs (identity data, contact information, educational background, work experience, and English proficiency).

  • Click “Fill the Applicant Information Form.”
  • Sections marked with an (*) on the Applicant Information Form are required fields. 
  • You will need to upload a scanned passport-sized picture in the identity data section.
  • In the Educational Background section, enter your high school, undergraduate, and graduate (if applicable) degrees. You must also scan and upload your transcripts, diploma(s) or proof of graduation, and disciplinary record.
  • The section on work experience is a required field for some programs. Begin with the most recent and enter information on your full-time work experiences. You may enter any noteworthy part-time work experiences as well.
  • Except those who are exempt from the language proficiency or are applying for preparatory class, all applicants must provide proof of English proficiency level. You need to provide your scores for only one English proficiency exam (BUEPT/TOEFL/IELTS). Scanned score card must be uploaded and the scores must be entered. If you have not yet received your English proficiency exam score, enter the date of the exam.
  • If you have not completed filling out the form, click “Save Form” to save the entered information; this will allow you to modify the form later if you need to.
  • If you have completed the form, click “Submit Form” to proceed to Step 2.

STEP 2: PROGRAM APPLICATION FORM

In this section you will be applying to the relevant program(s) and will need to upload a Statement of Purpose, standardized graduate exam scores (ALES, GRE, GMAT), contact information of recommenders and other supporting documents for each program you will be applying to. In addition, Application Fee transaction is made.

  • To apply, click “Fill the Program Application Form.”
  • To select the program you will be applying to, click “Add Program” and select the program you apply. Fill the required fields.
  • You need to provide score(s) of standardized graduate exam(s) required by the program you are applying to. Scanned score card must be uploaded and the scores must be entered. If you have not yet received your exam score(s), enter the date of the exam(s) and forward your scorecard to the program applied as soon as you received it.
  • At least two reference letters are required for applying to all graduate programs. On the Application Form, enter the names, last names, and email addresses of at least two people you will ask for a reference letter. Once you submit your application, an email will be sent to the contact information you have provided, explaining how to submit the reference letter.  You will receive confirmation email when reference letter is submitted electronically by the referee. If the program applied requires a specific form of recommendation to be filled, it is the applicant’s responsibility to provide the form to the referee.
  • If you have not completed filling out the form, click “Save Application
  • If you plan to apply to more than one program, click “Add Program” again for each one.
  • If you want to delete a program application form you have filled, use “Remove Program”.
  • Applicants applying to more than one program must rank them in order of preference, using “Preference Order” field and click “Save Preference Order”.

Once the Step 1 and 2 are completed the application fee must be paid before proceeding to Step 3. The program application fee is 65 TL. For overseas payments it is €50 or $50. A separate application fee must be paid for each program applied.

You may check your payment status at List of Programs Applied.

If you are exempt from application fee, then your Payment Status is “Exempt from Payment”.

Applicants must pay the application fee via one of the two methods described below.

If application fee is paid via domestic payment channels, you may proceed to Step 3.

1.Online payment for applicants with access to domestic payment channels.

To pay using Garanti Bank ATMs or branches, follow

Payments -> Other Payments -> University Payments -> Bogaziçi Üniversitesi -> Lisansüstü/Yatay

To pay using Garanti Internet Banking, follow

Payments -> Institution -> University -> Bogaziçi Üniversitesi -> Lisansüstü/Yatay

Once at the relevant screen, you enter the ID or Passport number you have used on the application form in the field “Student No”, the amount you need to pay will show up. After the payment is made, it can be verified on the application system online. Once the payment is verified your Payment Status is “Online Payment Verified”. If application fee has not been paid or payment has not been approved yet, Payment Status appears “Incomplete”.

2.Payment by SWIFT for overseas applicants.

Applicants can transfer the amount they need to pay to the account numbers provided below, via SWIFT. They will need to then upload the transfer receipt to the Application System by clicking “ Program Application Fee” and submit the program application. It is not possible to verify such payments online. After the program application is submitted, the Registrar’s Office will check the uploaded receipt within three business days and if payment is confirmed, the application will be forwarded to the respective program. Applicants who make use of this method are advised to take into consideration the time that will be needed to check the payment during the time specified for online application, and make their payment early on.

Once the payment is verified by the Registrar’s Office, your Payment Status is “Receipt Verified”. If application fee has not been paid or payment has not been approved yet, Payment Status appears “Incomplete”.

The applications with invalid payment transactions will not be processed.

STEP 3: SUBMITTING THE PROGRAM APPLICATION

  • To submit the program application click “Submit the Program Application”.
  • Select the program application you wish to submit, and click “Submit Application.”
  • The page that opens will notify you that your application has been submitted. Submitted applications cannot be modified during the application period. Modifications are possible only on applications that have been saved and not yet submitted.

STEP 4: APPLICATION STATUS

You can check the status of your application here. Under the Document Checklist provided on this page, you can view the documents and information you declared in your application file that failed to satisfy admission requirements. If your application was forwarded to the relevant program and there are documents/information missing on your Document Checlist, contact the program you applied to.

EXITING THE SYSTEM

You exit the system by clicking “Logout”.

2. Entrance Exam:

Entrance exam is administered by the program.

3. Interviews:

Interviews is held with candidates who did well in the exam.

4. Results:

Results are shared with the candidates by the program secretariat.
